Bringing the Bard to the backyard

After touring sold out shows around the Melbourne Comedy Festival circuit, the award winning Gippsland Theatre Company HT&E is returning home to perform its hit comedy, "Bogan Shakespeare".

Director Phillip Mayer said the show was created as a way of reintroducing Shakespeare to a modern, Australian audience.
"It's all about finding an appreciation for Shakespeare," Phill said. "The show was born out of a love of Shakespeare and also a frustration that people don't understand it or appreciate how wonderful it actually is. I've heard so many times over the years that Shakespeare is boring or outdated or inaccessible. But the truth is we use so much Shakespearean language in everyday life."
