Auditions for the 2025 Victorian State School Spectacular are now open, and Gippsland's young creatives are encouraged to apply.
Since its inception in 1995, the VSSS has provided invaluable opportunities and career pathways for tens of thousands of Victoria's government primary and secondary school students to showcase their talent.
The milestone 30th anniversary performance will take place at John Cain Arena on September 13, 2025.
The Spectacular program takes a professional approach with young students working alongside some of the most respected creative talent in Australia, including renowned Australian choreographer, Yvette Lee and musical director Chong Lim AM.
Students involved in the VSSS will have a variety of creative opportunities including vocal, dance and orchestral performances, circus and acrobatic acts, as well as off-stage production opportunities. Students can receive training from skilled industry professionals in essential roles such as stage management, lighting, audio, vision, and production.
Dance director for the 2025 production, Yvette Lee, said the VSSS introduced performers to a professional entertainment environment at an early age, allowing them to develop key industry skills.
"It's such an amazing program and there really is nothing out there like it," Yvette said. "The kids come to us already really well trained, but what we do is put the kids in a professional environment. We teach them what it's like to perform in a stadium show which is also being shot for television."
Yvette encouraged anyone who had considered being part of the entertainment industry to audition for the 2025 performance.
"Anyone who has had an interest sparked (in performing arts), I would encourage to audition," she said. "Even if you've had no formal training, if you love to sing in your shower or dance in the kitchen, but you've had no formal training, you should audition."
Students can register to audition and submit their audition videos from the comfort of their homes via https://tinyurl.com/VSSS2025
Registrations close on Thursday December 5.
