Learning bike safety
1 min read

Students at Yarragon Primary School recently honed their riding skills with the help of retired professional cyclist Brenton Jones.
Jones ran a Ride Nation bicycle clinic at the school before the end of term, teaching students how to ride safely.
Students participated in a variety of activities, including one which required them to work in teams and pass a bean bag back and forth while riding in pairs.
Yarragon Primary School teacher Jayden Vandyk supervised the clinic and said it provided students with an opportunity to practice their skills in a safe environment.
"Bike Ed is a program that our grade threes and sixes do every year...Brenton has been awesome for the kids.
"They get asked to bring their own bikes, but if they can source on the school - in conjunction with the providers - try and source some bikes."
Mr Vandyk said the program made students aware of how to properly use their brakes and provides skills they could use while riding in their spare time.
