A group of talented basketball players from Marist-Sion College in Warragul headed to the Gold Coast in Queensland to compete in the Australian Marist Basketball Carnival during the last week in March.
Opening mass was held at Trinity College Beenleigh on the Sunday 5pm in their chapel, with 34 teams in total gathered to take part - 23 boys and 11 girls teams.
During the mass Lachlan Baker and Holly Carlsen carried in the school banner and Maci James read prayers of the faithful. To see an array of colour at mass and school uniforms was a delight.
After a barbecue dinner at Trinity College a tired crew headed back to their accommodation at the Gold Coast Performance Centre.
Monday games begin girls in pool B and boys in pool D both pools had six teams.
Over Monday and Tuesday five games were played with the boys winning one, finishing fifth in their pool, and the girls winning three, finishing third in their pool.
Championship division for the girls (top eight) and Challenge for the boys (9-20 placing).
Division games were played on the Wednesday and final place games to be played on Thursday. There were mixed results but a complete effort by both teams was the highlight.
Later that night everyone dressed in full summer uniform to attend the presentation dinner, highlights were the medals presented to Marist-Sion students.

On Thursday the girls were playing for seventh position and boys for 19th position. Unfortunately both teams were ahead in the dying minutes but were beaten by buzzer beaters to both lose by one point and two points respectively.
