Newly elected Warragul Rotary president Vaughan Fox is keen to build relationships with the community and businesses.
Speaking at the club’s changeover at the Black Tie Reception Centre last week, Mr Fox said the club was a relevant and vibrant force in the community, particularly through its many fundraising activities and projects.
He said the club was already proposing to install a drinking fountain at the corner of Smith and Palmerston Sts where a storm recently destroyed a tree.
He said the club would continue its focus on its major fundraising events, the art show and the sale of Christmas trees.
Mr Fox said he was passionate about the role Rotary played locally, nationally and internationally.
“I am hoping that this year more and more people will hear about our club and the good news stories we can tell,” he said.
The club’s new board comprises Mr Fox, secretary Lyn Bennett-Colls, treasurer Andrew Lewis, Rosemary Allica, Ross Dawson, Ian Holdsworth, Diane Carson, Pat O’Brien and Peter Dell.
In his 2016-17 presidential report Peter Dell said the highlight of the year was the return of A2 986 steam engine to Warragul after 30 years of restoration work by Steamrail Victoria.
