Year 7 St Paul’s Anglican Grammar student, Sophie Bennett is the youngest and only competitor to recently place in the top four at three of the EA95 Equestrian Eventing qualifiers to secure a place on the Victorian Interschool National Championships team.
Sophie, of Tynong North placed fourth at the Australian Eventing Championships at Wandin, second at Camperdown and third at the Ballarat Horse Trials and will travel with her chestnut horse ‘In your Dreams’ to represent Victoria at the Interschool National Championships in Sydney in September.
In round two of the Interschool Showjumping series, the St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School’s equestrian team placed seventh out of 32 schools, with Emily Downes, Katelyn Downes, Zoe Waller and Charlotte Waller placing in their classes.
On May 2 and 3 the St Paul’s team of Georgina Bayley, Will Hatfield, Clara Galvin and Poppy Clemence placed 4th out of 82 schools at the annual Tintern Horse Trials.
Sophie Bennett is a member of the St Paul’s Elite Sports Performers Program where she will have access to additional support, resources and will benefit from several guest speakers from the Victorian Institute of Sport.
