St Paul's Anglican Grammar School student Alan Bechaz of Warragul was the top achiever among VCE students across West Gippsland when results were released yesterday.
Hundreds of year 12 students anxiously awaited results yesterday, many eager to receive their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) score that may determine acceptance into tertiary education courses.
St Paul's principal Lisa Maloney said Alan's outstanding score included two perfect scores of 50 in English and literature, 46 in philosophy and 46 in media studies. He plans to study arts at Melbourne University.
Other top results at St Paul's included Katherine Gourley from Warragul (98.9), Meagan McKelvie from Yarragon (98.35) and Ashley Klemke from Trafalgar (98).
"This year's results are another pleasing performance for the school. In total 25 students obtained an ATAR score over 90, whilst 56 students obtained an ATAR over 80.
"Eighty six per cent of the students placed in the top 50 per cent and eight per cent of student study scores were over 40 and hence will be published on the VCE high achiever's list."
